Overview
Leatherback provides a unified collection infrastructure that removes the complexity of global payment acceptance. By integrating with our collection suite, merchants can accept payments through local and international rails. We currently offer robust collection support for Nigerian Naira (NGN), British Pound Sterling (GBP), and Canadian Dollars (CAD).
Integration Archetypes
Our collection products are designed to scale with your technical requirements, ranging from zero code shareable links to fully customizable API integrations.
1. Payment Links
Payment Links are the fastest way to start accepting payments without building your own checkout infrastructure.
You can deploy payment links in two ways.
Generate, track, and manage payment links directly from the Fusion Portal. These links can be shared through email, SMS, or social platforms.
Programmatically create payment links from your backend. This approach allows you to redirect customers to a Leatherback hosted checkout page and automatically return them to your application after the payment is completed.
Supported Payment Rails by Currency
| Currency | Local Payment Rails |
|---|---|
| NGN 🇳🇬 | Pay by Transfer, Pay with Cards |
| GBP 🇬🇧 | Pay with Account (Open Banking), Pay with Cards |
| CAD 🇨🇦 | Pay by Interac |
2. Inline Pop-up
The Inline Pop-up is a client side JavaScript integration that overlays a secure payment modal directly on your website.
This approach allows you to maintain your brand experience while delegating the security and PCI compliance responsibilities of payment processing to Leatherback.
Logic
Once the user triggers a payment action, the Leatherback library manages the full transaction lifecycle and returns a secure callback to your frontend.
3. Redirect Integration
The Redirect Integration allows you to embed the Leatherback Payment Gateway within your existing web or mobile application flow.
Customers are temporarily redirected to a secure hosted environment to complete the transaction and are then returned to your specified success or failure URLs.
4. Direct API Integration
For organizations that require full control of the checkout experience, Direct API Integration provides raw access to the payment APIs.
With this model:
- You design and control the checkout interface
- You collect customer payment details within your own environment
- You submit the transaction directly to the Leatherback processing engine
